Why Pluggz Are My New Favorite Shoes
[I received free product from Pluggz for this review. The opinions are very much my own. Links in this article are affiliate links.]
Pluggz footwear contacted me several months ago just after Juil footwear folded. I had been an ambassador for Juil*, pretty much since their founding, and the ladies at Pluggz thought that I might like to try their fashion forward earthing shoes and perhaps be an ambassador for them.
Pluggz shoes uses a carbon plug in the sole to keep our bodies connected to earth energy. The plug also softly hits an energy point of the foot and helped hold the orthotic footbed in the shoe. They also decided to go for simple, fashionable styles - ballet flats, loafers, moccasins, and drivers.
I received not just one, but several pair free to review. Driving mocs for hubby, and loafers and ballet flats for myself. I ordered the laser cut ballet flat in red, the loafer in blue suede, and the fold-up travel ballet flats in black and glossy red (later I added teal). I wear them all, both in the Pilates studio and out.
What I love about Pluggz is the classic styling and the comfort. The grounding, earthing energy is simply a welcome bonus. And I will say that between the connecting plug,
the trampoline heel, and the orthotic footbed (yes, even the folding shoes have that), my feet do not hurt at all when I wear my Pluggz on the concrete sidewalks of Manhattan and in the Pilates studio where I teach.
When we traveled to Mystic, CT this summer I brought four pair of Pluggz (three of fold ups in their cute travel bags) and wore them walking all over the place. The rounded toe and higher cut supportive band keep my painful big toe (crushed in 2013) happy (also see testimonial below).
I met Pluggz founder and CEO Sharon Whitely on one of her trips back east, and was struck by her intelligence and her utter commitment to Pluggz. (I am in my blue suede loafers and she is sporting a black patent wedge.) Sharon was a success in retail marketing already, and had little desire to be actively back in the game until she discovered the health benefits of staying connected to the earth and realized how important that is, especially for busy urban women.
From a recent testimonial:
The primary reason that I first chose Pluggz shoes was the comfort. After the recovery period from toe surgery and wearing a “boot”, I was looking for a shoe that looked “normal”....
The quality and appearance are also main reasons I keep going back to Pluggz. After 3 years of wear, that first pair of leather ballet flats looks the same. Admittedly, I now have several pairs including other styles (Laser cut and Mocs) but the fact is that first pair still looks great. I am just now trying the linen/leather combination—so will know more later. (BTW I bought the Pluggz fresh foot spritz to keep the lining fresh). -Betty Stout

*Juil also did earthing shoes, with copper pieces embedded in the toes and heels of the soles.
