This is actually a decent 3 minute video of the basic Pilates abdominal series as demonstrated and talked through by Ford Model's very own Lorie Baker. httpv://youtu.be/yq3A9BI2y6o
Faith Hill gives my 42 year old self hope. The beautiful and oh-so-fit singer posed in a bikini for the cover of the upcoming December 2008 Shape Magazine as a birthday present to herself. Faith, married to the also very talented recording artist Tim McGraw, had knee surgery last January and started working out with her husband in July. Their daily workouts included elliptical, light weight lifting, crunches, and push-ups and soon the couple started looking and feeling better. But Faith's secret weapon is Pilates.
As reported on Fit Sugar, Faith added Pilates classes three times a week to help her tone up and increase flexibility. "Faith told Shape, 'I could bend in ways I haven't been able to since I was a teenager. My husband loves it!'
This Nashville-based star said, 'It was so hard, but ultimately so worth it. My core is much stronger, and my arms are more toned. In fact, wearing a bikini on a magazine cover is my 41st birthday present to myself.'"
Paris Hilton's new ad campaign for the brainchild fragrance Fairy Dust required photo shoots wearing nothing but a mini skirt and strapless bikini tube, definitely a body showing get up. Paris decided to get in shape so as to avoid the need for airbrushing or editing, and apparently went crazy exercising.
Her exercise of choice? Paris loves Pilates!

We all know that there are tons of celebrities doing Pilates (I have worked with many myself), but sometimes I see some new names and faces in my Google alerts.
First we have celebrity chef Nigella Lawson, who has gone up and down on the weight scale over the past years. Since she loves to eat, Chef Nigella uses Pilates exercise when she needs to slim down.
Then we have recent mom Nicole Ritchie, who successfully used Pilates to slim right down after childbirth.
And finally there is the lovely actress Amy Adams, who recently finished filming the new sequel to my favorite movie of recent years, Night At the Museum. She did Pilates as often as possible to stay in shape for the close up scenes in very tight pants!
According to the Mirrir, Mariah Carey stays in shape in part through Pilates.
"Her regime consists of low-impact water aerobics combined with pilates mat exercises and, most recently, yoga.
'I love the water,' she adds. 'And I like doing water aerobics because it’s less stress on the body – it’s three times as effective as exercising outside the water – but mainly because you forget the fact that you’re actually working out. You’re splashing around in the water.'
The pilates moves help to whittle her tiny waist and sculpt her arms and thighs, and the yoga is making Mariah super-flexible. 'I’m so shocked that I can actually put my feet over my head,' she says."
I have written before about Pilates Plus studios and their celebrity trainer and owner Sebastien Lagree. Sebastien has even offered me a free Pilates Plus class at one of his studios, but unfortunately I haven't made it as we went to NY instead of Europe for our annual holiday and he has no affiliate studios in NYC.
Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross and her husband attend Lagree's Pilates Plus in Brentwood and it obviously is doing something because she looks great!
